The Hotel Miramar was originally built as a private residence in about 1905. It was owned by the Austrian Ambassador who used it as a weekend home. It is built in the “Arts and Crafts” style which was very popular at that time.

We regularly cater for guests with special dietary requirements. Chefs prepare specific meals upon request. Menus cater for gluten free, dairy free and vegetarian diners.
We have a hearing loop available, and can offer guests with hearing impairments specialist vibrating pillows which are activated in case of fire or emergency or when alarms are sounded.

Our ‘Green’ Approach

We are exceedingly grateful every day to look out of our windows towards magnificent panoramic sea views, and frankly, we think this makes us consider our environment and the planet even more.

We do not take for granted that we operate in a beautiful part of the country, indeed a lovely location on this planet. To this end we have a number of ‘green’ and environmentally friendly strategies in place. We hope this will be of interest to you.

Hotel Miramar operates a robust recycling process including all glass, cardboard, and paper.
All food waste is fully recycled.
All cooking oil used in the hotel kitchens is recycled. In a joint scheme with Dorset Bio Solutions our waste kitchen oil is converted to biodiesel and subsequently used to run the Bournemouth Land Train.
Any redundant/unusable appliances are recycled.
Energy saving magnets are used in our gas boiler heating systems supplied by Green Wing UK. This has led to a significant reduction in gas used for central heating, hot water and cooking.
All WC’s fitted with water saving devices and efficient tanks.
Guests are invited to re-use towels (rather than daily launder)
All sanitary ware is eco-efficient.
Paper towels are no longer used in our public cloakrooms. Energy efficient ‘airblade’ dryers have been installed.
We employ local gardening contractors East Cliff Landscapes who recycle green waste material.
Staff are required to monitor energy use (unused room etc.)
Low energy light bulbs are used throughout the hotel.
We support the Bournemouth Chamber of Trade Green Knowledge Network
Hotel staff participate in ‘Beach Clean’ activities
